I am passionate about providing accessible, progressive, and trauma-informed mental health education and counselling services.

Time and experience has taught me that taking care of both ourselves and those around us is essential to living a good life, despite the pain that comes with the human condition.

Sometimes we don't know how to do this effectively.

With effort and guidance, I believe we can learn how.

Plant in an open space - My approach to therapy - About me

I am formally trained as a scientist-practitioner, meaning that I am trained to deliver and evaluate evidence-based approaches to recovering and maintaining mental health.

Beyond the scientist-practitioner method, I acknowledge the vast knowledge and ways of healing that exist outside western-centric scientific norms. Some of my most impactful personal therapeutic experiences have come about by being open to diverse methods of healing.

Since each person has a different understanding of what elements come together to lead to well-being, I believe that psychotherapy should combine evidence-based approaches with the intuition/knowledge that you hold about what works well for you. Together we can co-create the conditions and knowledge that will bring you what you are looking for.

More specifically, my role is to accompany you in discovering resources you hold within you to move past the struggles you’re facing. I aim to create a space of nonjudgment, acceptance, and warmth because I believe that this relational atmosphere is a requirement for healing. I also believe that you should walk away from counselling feeling empowered; with a felt sense of agency to make choices that improve your quality of life within the social contexts and systems you operate in.

I describe my approach as collaborative, trauma-informed, and authentic. Depending on the needs of who I am working with, I draw from various intervention modalities and approaches, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Systemic Therapy, Attachment Therapy, Feminist Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Somatic Therapy, and Narrative Therapy.
